Education~ treating your venue as a canvas

This isn't the first time I've covered this issue but with 2010 brides now rolling in the door, I felt it was time to revisit the issue.

Just today I received an email from a bride.....

"PLEASE YOU HAVE TO TELL ME WHERE THIS VENUE IS! IT'S ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. I MUST HAVE IT FOR MY WEDDING!"

I quickly looked back to see which wedding she was referring to. I gasped when I saw! It was the most plain jane, gymnasium looking, old hall we've ever worked in. (No names mentioned) Now, don't get me wrong; I have nothing against venue's like this. I have to admit.. THEY ARE MY FAVORITE.

Yes you heard me correctly! Here's why:

You can create absolutely anything you want! With the proper help, and I mean professional help you can turn the ugliest frog into the most gorgeous princess. I promise.

Featured Wedding~ Natalie & Tony

Natalie & Tony had big plans for their grand Soiree. With a guest list of almost 500 people, their venue options were extremely limited. Thankfully they knew something most people don't... It's NOT the venue.. its WHAT YOU DO with the venue!
Together, we transformed a regular old gymnasium into a posh downtown club!
Every single one of their guests mouths dropped when entering the room~ NEVER in their life had they seen a transformation quite like this!

"I am Natalie's Granmda and I had to congratulate you on the amazing job you did for her wedding. When I entered the room it was like WWWWWWOOOOOOWWWWW! I was moved to tears! Thank you so so much! "
-Grandma Antonia

This event was held at the Hellenic Centre in Kerrisdale BC.

Featured Venue~ Rowena's Inn

Featured Wedding~Pure Romance

Featured Theme~ Monochromatic

Featured Wedding~ Bold Elegance

Jana dreamed of a pink wedding since childhood. To counteract the girliness, we opted to go with bright hot pink hues, softened with crisp whites. Held at the Heritage Hall, the room was illuminated with pink theatrical lighting to achieve a dream-like effect. To finish off the design, the tables were adorned with elegant orchids.

From the bride...

"WDS was absolutely amazing on our wedding day! They saw my vision and brought it to life in a way I NEVER thought possible. The room was breathtaking! All my friends were commenting on the decor. They were also fabulous in the planning stages. They were very patient, calm, very helpful and extremely flexible! I can't say enough about WDS; I would recommend them to anyone looking for amazing decor. Thank you WDS for making my day extraordinary!"

-Jana & Matt

Featured Wedding~ Fusion Affair

Held at the Sheraton Wall Centre downtown Vancouver, WDS struck Gold with this fusion design. Behind the head table a custom build bamboo grid stole the show, adorned with fresh cymbidium orchids, Chinese paper lanterns and hanging votive candles. The guest tables played off the design concept with bamboo filled lampshades. Rich chocolate browns and smooth taupe's completed the look through high quality fabrics.

Featured Wedding~ Plums & Apples

Here at WDS, we love original color schemes. While it's not to say that it's never been done, but how often do you seen rich plum and citrus green lining the reception hall. Held at Swan-e-Set Golf and Country Club, this dog loving couple wowed their guests with life sized trees adorned on each table, two executive lounges and an "outdoors inside" dance floor.

Featured Trend~Cocktail Receptions

With many brides looking to pinch a few pennies without compromising the "wow factor", it seems more than obvious why cocktail receptions are catching wind. Recently, WDS executed this lavish reception at Hycroft Manor, complete with bold damask prints, punches of canary yellow and elegance to spare!
